Adios America del Sur!

Now that we've come to the end of the South American leg of our journey it's surreal to look back at all that we've experienced over the last four months....

We survived the hostile elements of the rugged yet beautiful Patagonian landscapes,

Stared down the throat of the thundering Iguazu falls,

Were charmed by the culture and scenery of Northern Argentina,

Traversed the barren wastelands of the Salar de Uyuni,

Explored the lush, wild corners of the Bolivian jungle,

Charged down the death road in La Paz,

Watched the sun descend into the boundless waters of Lake Titicaca,

Followed the ancient path to the spiritual sanctuary of Machu Pichu,

Scaled the jagged, sky-scraping mountains of the Cordillera Blanca,

Sailed around the enchanted islands of Galapagos,

Meandered through the tranquil valleys of Quilotoa,

Walked among the giant waxy palms of the Valle de Cocora,

Discovered the underwater beauty of the Caribbean ocean,

Drifted to sleep on the sway of a cool ocean breeze in the "hilltop" hammocks of Cabo San Juan in the beautiful Parque Tayrona,

And lost track of time in the forgotten town of Mompox...

While these big adventures tend to headline such a trip, for the two of us it's really been the small 'everyday' things, those fleeting moments that are so easily overlooked, that make such a trip unforgettable...

We can't help but thank the Lord every chance we get for the amazing privilege that he has bestowed on us, to witness the glory of his creation and to journey through such amazing places...

We have just over two months left in our trip and while we will be sad to say 'adios' to a continent that has furrowed such a special place in our hearts, we have a new and completely different adventure that lies ahead, the Great American North! And thus it is with renewed vigour and excitement that we journey onward, our first stop...un petit voyage to Louisiana and the magical ville de New Orleans!

...but, there's still no place like home...
